This is a wonderful opportunity to experience some fantastic wines from the Oregon and Washington regions with a dinner course matched to each wine.

The dinner will begin with a 6:00 reception with passed hors d’oeuvres.  A
four course wine dinner expertly prepared by award winning Executive Chef Chad Lavely will start at 6:30.  Each course is paired with a wine from the Northwest Core Collection.

Parties at Whatever Works Art Space

Looking for an interesting new location for your next party?  The Whatever Works Art Space located at 115 W. Broadway (basement of First Baptist Church) has a number of great options for parties, birthday and otherwise.  You can learn more here:

Some of the options are:

Paint Your Own Pottery
Suitable for ages 3 through adult. 8 painters minimum
Cost: $35 for 2 hour party including facility and instruction- plus cost of pieces. (Choose from 6″ tiles, mugs, plates, assorted animals, trinket boxes, pet dishes– also special orders.)

Handbuilding with Clay
Suitable for ages 3 through adult. 8 handbuilders minimum
Cost: $45 for two hour party including facility and instruction plus $10 each for
baseball size ball of clay (one pound).
Instructor will suggest projects and assist in forming and glazing.
Will be fired, ready to pick up in two to three weeks.

Wheel Throwing and Handbuilding with Clay
Coming Soon!
Suitable for ages 10 through adult. 3 available wheels, can alternate wheel throwing and handbuilding. Recommend 3 to 6 people only- check with instructor.
Cost: $55 for two hour party, includes facility and instruction in wheel throwing, handbuilding and glazing; plus $10 for each baseball size ball of clay (one pound) used whether it gets fired or is put in reclaim bag. (If you would like to have a two hour party with no break, the cost is $75 plus clay.)
Your pieces are glazed wet, right on the wheel or the table, then once-fired. Pieces will be ready for pick up in three weeks.

Adult Soccer - Sundays & Wednesdays - Bryn Du Tennis Court

Drop in adult soccer is being played:

  • Sundays at 1:00 pm
  • Wednesdays at 9:00 pm

at Bryn Du Mansion Tennis Courts.  The cost is $35 divided by the number of players– usually ends up being ~$5.  This will run until it gets warm & dry enough to move outside at Raccoon Valley.

The Short Story Brasserie Announces “Traveling with Papa Hemingway” Dinner Series

We are pleased to introduce our “Traveling with Papa Hemingway” Dinners, a changing prix fixe 3 course dinner offered Tuesday through Thursday from 5pm to 7pm.  Each month we choose a new destination frequented by Papa Hemingway, and build a menu from that region. We start our journey at his home in Key West, Florida.

Valentine’s Day Dining at The Short Story Brasserie

The Short Story Brasserie announces its special pre fixe menu for Valentine’s Day weekend on Friday the 13th and Saturday the 14th.  Executive Chef Chad Lavely has prepared a four course menu that will make for an unforgettable Valentine’s evening.  The Valentine’s Day pre fixe menu is $55 per person with an optional paired wine package for an additional $20 per person.

Christmas Eve and New Year’s Eve Dining At The Short Story Brasserie

The Short Story Brasserie is the perfect place for your Holiday dining.

For Chrismas Eve dinner The Short Story will be open from 5pm to 10pm.  Reservations can be made online or by calling 740-587-0281.

For New Year’s Eve Executive Chef Chad Lavely has created an amazing five course fixed price menu to celebrate the start of 2009.  The fixed price menu is $75 per person and wine pairings are available with each course for an additional $25 per person.  Please call for reservations at 740-587-0281, credit card required.  Cancellations made within 48 hours will be charged 50%.
