A Little Tip For Granville Business Owners

There should always be benefits for the “first adopters” of anything new.  The new Granville Ohio Business Directory is no exception.

If you visit the directory, check out the Popular Listings box on the right hand side of the page.  The businesses listed here are the most popular listings in the directory based upon the number of times each has been viewed buy website visitors. This ends up being a reinforcing cycle because of the prominence of this box: the rich get richer– meaning that the most popular listings continue to remain popular because they are listed at the top of this box and are highly visible to each visitor.

Here’s a secret strategy:  if you mention to your customers (and friends, relatives, etc.)– maybe even encourage them– to visit your listing page in the directory, each customer visit will move you higher in the Popular Listings box.  This, in turn, will give you greater visibility to *all* users of the directory (1000’s each month.)  It’s free advertising.

Really resource business owners might even link to their listing page from their own website.

Since the directory is fairly new, there is a lot of opportunity for “early adopters” to get a head start ahead of the competition.  (If you are wondering how to list your business in the directory, please read this post.  It’s free.)

A New Business Directory For Granville

Granville Ohio Online recently launched a new business directory covering local businesses in and around Granville. Currently it has over 400 listings with a lot of local information about Granville businesses that is, quite frankly, hard to find. Each listing has contact information, map locations, and in many cases, the website, email address, fax number, a lengthy description, and more.

If you are a local business owner, you have 2 options to participate in the directory:

• Submit a new listing. If your business is not already in the directory, you can submit one for free.
• Claim your existing listing. If your business is already listed, then go to the listing page and click on the “ATTENTION BUSINESS OWNERS” link and follow the instruction.

If you are a business owner in Granville, this is something you should really consider. First of all, it’s free. Second of all, again, it’s free. Lastly, Granville Ohio Online is visited by over 3,000 people each month and it’s growing. The most visited listing (which happens to be Del Mar Restaurant) was viewed almost 200 times in June alone.

2008 Granville Kiwanis 4th of July Parade

Here is a little info about this year’s 4th of July parade put on by the Granville Kiwanis Club.

Event Date: 7/4/2008
Start Time: 10:45 AM
Location: Broadway in downtown Granville, Ohio (Granville Parade Route)
Description: The theme for this year’s parade is “Celebrate Licking County - 200 Years of Community” at this year’s Granville Kiwanis 4th of July Parade. This year’s Grand Marshalls are Granville Kiwanians Bill Brady & Baird Krueger.

2008 Firecracker 5-miler (Granville, Ohio)

The 35th annual Firecracker 5-miler is scheduled for an 8:15AM start on July 4, 2008. Sponsored by the Granville Rotary Club, this event is known as the longest continuous running event in Ohio, and always pulls in a large turn-out.

The entry fee is $20 is you sign up early or $25 on race day (registration begins at 6:30AM at the Denison University field house. Here is the registration form:

2008 Bryn Du Summer Cross Country Series

The Bryn Du X-country running event series was recently announced:

• Thursday, July 10th @ 7:30PM (3km)
• Thursday, July 24th @ 7:30PM (5km)
• Thursday, August 7th @ 7:15PM (5km)

Registration will take place at the Bryn Du Mansion between 6-7PM. Entry fees are $2 for RunGranville club members, $4 for students & $5 for non-club members.

Granville Concerts on the Green 2008

In its 27th season, the Granville Rec Commission announced its 2008 Concerts on the Green schedule recently. For those that are new to this, Concerts on the Green are a series of seven performances that take place on the Denison Fine Arts Quad on West Broadway.

The first performance is on Monday, May 26th at 5:30PM featuring ABBA Gold, a group that strives to produce a “faithful re-creation of a live ABBA concert from the late 1970’s.” The last performance will be Sunday, August 17th at 5:30PM with the Street Drum Corps.
