The Short Story Brasserie in Granville, Ohio can best be described as a gem.
The experience was crafted carefully from the soft lights, simply classic decor, smooth jazz music playing and quietly efficient
wait staff.
The atmosphere was convivial without being raucous. And the food was served with the same care and attention with which it was
prepared.
The menu provided some interesting and eclectic options. I started with a Havana Mojito and smoked salmon rillettes and crostini
followed by a spicy chicken and rice noodle salad, which was a wonderful melange of sweet and spicy contrasted against the
noodles. Then I had the chevre cheese and tomato tart with basil oil. It was excellent and differed from my own recipe only in
the selection of cheese. My entre was choucroute garni with smoked pork loin, with sausage and herbed mashed potatoes. It was
scrumptious. The sauerkraut added a nice touch of the piquant. Excellent. Then I finished my meal with chocolate tart with
caramel gelato and sauce anglaise which I had with the recommended Blandy's 10yr Malmsey Madeira. That was a perfect
combination. Subtle and balanced nuances of sharp, sweet, nutty and salty, cool and smooth.
I can't remember the last time I enjoyed a meal, a dining experience so much. I highly recommend this restaurant and hope to
return for equally memorable experiences.

This is a great new restaurant that offers high quality food with a casual atmosphere. The menu has a wide selection and everything that I've tried has been delicious. I'd recommend trying this Columbus style restaurant that is close to home.

This really is a must-visit restaurant wherever in Central Ohio you might be. Dinner, Dessert, and Wines were perfection, and the wait staff is excellent. It's absolutely the best dinner we've ever had in Granville and we'll be back often. From cheese to dinner to dessert it was not rushed, enjoyable, and comfortable. The creme brulee is truly something worth returning for!

Recently I was in Grandville visiting friends and they invited me to attend the opening of The Short Story. What a great experience! As I sit here at the library all I can think of is wishing I lived closer so I could experience The Short Story more.
I enjoyed a Pomegranet Raspberry Martini, actually, two. Then the Frisee salad w/pecans, cherries and vinegrette, next came the Pan Roasted Salmon, seared Foie Gras, sauteed spinach with roasted garlic. All were to die for.
I will be back in the fall and I will enjoy The Short Story once or twice before I leave for home.
I would suggest resrvations though. But it is worth the wait, even w/o them.

The Short Story Restaurant is a welcome addition to the Granville restaurant scene. The food was superb-- probably the best in town-- and being connected with the Wine Cache means the wine selection is great.
I had the smoked pork loin, and it was fantastic. My wife had the foie gras salmon, and absolutely loved it. Two-for-two.
Be sure to call for a reservation. They only have 10 or so tables, so if you just pop in, you may not get seated.
