Artiflora, Flower Market in European Tradition
Stroll down any street in Amsterdam, Paris, London or Rome, or, in fact, almost any city or small town in Europe. At corners, in train stations, in shops, fresh flowers in open air markets entice the emotions, soothe the soul and bring cheer and joy to daily life. That ambiance is created at Artiflora, a Flower Market in the European Tradition on the sidewalk of Granville, Ohio, a quaint, historic town with a sidewalk as broad as a street and bustling with a lively and diverse community and many visitors. Home to Denison University, the village hosts shops, cafes and book stores. There one finds fresh flowers, hand-tied as they are found in Europe, vase ready, fresh and lovely. The designer and sole proprietor is a former educator who lived in the Netherlands for a year and fell in love with flowers. She returned years later to study under noted Dutch masters and now shares her talent in natural and fresh designs in bouquets. She makes wedding bouquets and will design for parties, receptions and other special events. But her heart is in the everyday bouquet, the kind that brings a smile to your face that crinkles your eyes. The kind that sits on your kitchen counter or your dining room table and transforms the space with color and fragrance. The kind that makes you happy. Artiflora is open all year long, designing from a home studio in the winter.
